A HOUSE.... OR A HOME.....

 A HOUSE...OR ...A HOME

A Home is where one wants to come back to....
Simple & Humble
Rush back to...
A Home is....
Where there is warmth...
Where there is love...
laze around
Where there is affection....
....and humor...
...and laughter...

Where talking is music to the ears....
Where silence is also communication...
Where ambiance is humble, simple and lived in ...
....where one feel comfortable...
..feel belong...
Where one just laze around....
....dream....lost in one's thoughts..
free to behave
.....by just being around...

A Home makes one feel safe...
meow
..feel cared for......

A place where one is free to behave.....
Where one can make mistakes and forgiven....
Where mistakes is seen as a learning experience....
Where one is allowed to grow....
Where one is picked when one falls....
Where one is lead with love and understanding....
Hand in hand ...together ..to the same destination.
.....happiness...peace..solace..

Where the word 'I' is nonexistent.....
Where 'WE' is important...
Where one is accepted as a package.....
...including weakness and strength ....
Where perfection is just a word.....
Where love, understanding and compassion takes over....

A House

A House???
Is cold...
Is perfect...
Where warmth is by the fireplace...
Where love and affection is expected....
Where material is mistaken for love.....
...where it is a crime to forget dates...
...like birthdays, anniversaries..etc..
play together

Where work and workplace is more satisfying...
Eat Together
Where time  is unavailable...
..just to be around....
....just to be there...
Just to be together...to eat together....
..to laugh together over silly matters....
..to play together....
.or just be together doing nothing...

To want to be Home
Need no reason....
No justification.......
....except...one feel fulfilled...
feel peace.....feel complete......

What do have???
A HOUSE ???? OR...
.......A HOME.....????

POWER & GREATNESS

POWER
Power to Erode

POWER!! Nearly everyone want it ...crave for it and the least dream about it..Those who have it want to cling on to it ....perhaps forever!  Many associate power with greatness because it really feels great to have power. It makes you feel you can do almost anything to anyone if you have power. It makes you feel you are much more respected if you have power...you feel more comfortable if you have power...you are more visible if you have power...great isn'nt it if you have power???
Perched -Top Post - Feeling High

You walk tall ....feelings always in the clouds ...feet hardly on the ground !!! ...and almost always you are surrounded by whom you know and whom you do not know ..why ? ..because others also want to associate with you ...simply because you have power! All want to please you, afraid of you ..pss... make you feel almost like godlike isn'nt it..??? Mashaalah...This is what we refer to as power dependence ....because without it you are nobody !

Trying to cling forever ?

GREAT?
The question is are we great when we have power? Do we really have power? Think about it ...whatever power   we have it is not absolute. It is not ours to own. It appear and dissappear and it has it's ups and down. We have to work for it, and we strive hard to to sustain it. The means in this case always justify the end! It is dressed as a challenge. It is tiring to just want to be up there but even  more tiring to make sure we remain up there...The question is  for how long ?

WHEN ONE FALLS
Limelight will fade away
We have seen leaders whether in governments or corporations change through time. Try observing when one looses one's power or position. What happens? In ordinary circumstances most walk by unnoticed, unaccompanied but  in some extreme cases it is as  though they are strip off their identity and self respect. They run into hiding trying to save the basic...their lives ! In such a situation the only one thing that come's to one's mind is to utter "oh god...." or for the muslims " ya Allah...." repetitively. It is said without one even realizing... It's the last call....a call for help!....for survival...TO the GREAT ONE ! So is man really great after all ??

 NATURAL INCLINATION
Why utter " oh god .." " ya Allah"...because unconciously power dependence has shifted to God dependence .... this is clear in surah 01 Al Baqarah  verse 5 "You alone do we worship and You alone do we turn for help" It is because man unconciously  is fullfilling the purpose for his creation and existence. It is obvious that man's obligation to serve god is felt by him as normal because it comes as a natural inclination on man's part to do so. This natural tendency in the man to serve and worship God is also referred to as din or fitrah.
Fitrah - Natural Instinct to Comfort

FITRAH
Fitrah is the pattern according to which God has created all things and everything fits each into its pattern created for it in it's proper place. It is the law of God. Submission to it brings harmony, for it means realization of what is inherent to one's nature and opposition to it brings discord, for it means realization of what is extraneos to one's true nature. As Syed Muhamad Naquib Al-Attas in his book Prolegomena to the Metaphysics of Islam he said " It is cosmos as opposed to choas; justice as opposed to injustice."

Our Origin
ORIGIN OF MAN
If only man ponders seriously to his origin he will realize that  he is indebted to God , his creator and provider for bringing him into existence and maintaining him in his existence. was once nothing and he did not exist, and now he is
Quran  Surah Al-Mukmin (23) verse 12-14. see also last post "Gift of life".

MAN IS SMALL
In short man often  forget that he is  small, when he is in power ....actually he is powerless ....Sad...  realization hits only  when he falls... So in reality one is  not great at all when in  power. Worse when one dies one will have to answer for what one does to Allah ....when in power...
Man is small

THE TRUTH
So the  truth ....only Allah is Might and Great ...as said clearly in the Quran surah 01 Al-Fatihah  Verse 1 Praise to Allah the Lord to the entire Universe Verse  The word "rab" has 3 connotations  i. Lord and Master ii.Sustainer,Provider,Supporter,Nourisher,Guardian iii.Sovereign, HE who controls and directs Verse 3 "The master of the day of recompense"
Eat What You Can Chew

KNOW YOUR LIMITS
So when in "power"...know your limits so when you leave you leave with grace not disgrace ...  just remember what we  actually have is RESPONSIBILTY ...to execute what Allah warrants us to do ..we are not great nor powerful  we are but small and powerless ...subhanallah ...

NIGHT & DAY - A MIRACLE

Night & Day - A Miracle
 Working Days
Asalamualaikum  & Hello
What i missed ?!!

Upon reflection I never realize that when  I was working  I did not care to look at the sky and the sun in the mornings. I was rushing off to work... Why should I ? I thought then ...why fuss ...it's there always  ...where will it go ??? Anyway what  was there to look at ? It was dark when I left for  work and my head was full of what to do  "today" or what to submit  "today" and when the sun starts to shine I was already running to punch in. My card  was always near red alert!!! So how to notice the sky and the sun !!! When in the office I do not know the time unless I look at my watch. Most of the time I will be running to meeting rooms for meeting, meeting and more meetings ....and of course always arriving in the nick of time !!! Whooshhhh!!! That was life then !!!
View from my office window

Mornings and sun for me sort of  did not exist. It was replaced  by the flourescent lights that lit the office rooms, the corridors and everywhere else. Days in the office passes  by so quickly and although I have the most beautiful view from my office window I never had the chance to appreciate it as my fingers will be on the keyboard of the desk computer or my blackberry giving instructions to my subordinates or checking the e mails that seem to flow in like the river nile !

On top of that I did not even notice that evening has arrived and the sun has set. I would be alerted  that evening has arrived by the hand fon alarm that I have  set as a  reminder for me  to  "solat magrib"              ( evening prayers) just before I hit for a place call home...on a lucky day !...Of course by the time I am  home it was already pitch dark ..what quality of life did I have then ! Hurmmm.... would it be appropriate to call it  "Darkness"....  ?!!

ever witnessed ?
Dusk & Dawn & The Quran

What about now? Now? Now that I am a pensioner I have the pleasure to witness both dusk and dawn from the long windows of my "mousoullah" (a place for worship in my home) and I even notice that  the process of dusk and dawn is clearly outlined in the Quran as below  :
Quran Surah 36, Yassin,  verse 37
" And the night is another sign for them. We strip the day from it and they become plunged into darkness "

Quran surah 36, Yassin verse 38
" The sun is running it's course to it's appointed place. That is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing "

 verse 39
" we have appointed stages for the moon till it returns in the shape of a dry old branch palm tree"
Verse 40
" Neither does it lie in the sun's power to overtake the moon nor can the night outstrip the day . All glide along , each in it's own orbit "

coming of dawn

How true? Before darkness befall we can witness the process of stripping when the light in the horizon starts to fade away in stages. The astronauts in this case have the privelege to witness the above process from the orbit as this process of stripping is clearly seen if one is really above this world. Try to google and see for yourself !  But since we are here on this earth try to observe when the sun rise or set..The sky from pale blue throughout the day suddenly slowly transformed itself into glamourous gold autumn colour and is most beautiful! Mashaallah ! Then in a split second darkness engulf us  all like a huge black blanket. You suddenly cannot see what you saw a minute ago..what you can see of course is what man made light let you see.....limited in depth and distance  .... without it, it's total darkness ...subhanallah ...

The magic of dusk & dawn
process of stripping

I read the above passages over and over again and now as dawn approaches. I watch in awe as the rays of the sun penetrates the earth at the speed of light yet seem at its own pace and all of a sudden  this world is lit ...

Butterfly

My garden from total darkness come to life again showing off its different colours  through the leaves in the trees, the flowers and the grass.

Hmm..Honey !
Even the birds starts to chirp incessantly and the squirrels start to appear from nowhere running up and down the garden... everything plants, insects and animals busy doing their business   smiling and dancing as if thanking god for the light of the day ...

A Fly ?
Dawn the most peaceful part of the day..the most refreshing...the point where life starts again...  As long as  the moon and the sun and everything in the galaxy all glide along each in it's own orbit ....just as stated in the quran as above ....we will witness dawn and dusk every other day ....
Dawn or Dusk ?

THE END
However do not take forgranted that  dawn and dusk awaits you forever ....one day it won't...because  the day will come when the sun and the moon  will not be there as clearly stated  in the Quran surah 75 Qiyamah  Verse 9 ......." the sun and the moon are joined together" ......

BANG !!!! its THE END ....of the world ....

Subhanallah .... We are but small and at HIS mercy ......but for now Thank you Allah....

A GIFT OF LIFE

GIFT OF LIFE

Aisya Sarra
Gift of Life
Quran Surah 23 - Al-Mu'minun (The Believers)
Verse 14
then We made this drop into a clot,
then We made the clot into a lump,
then We made the lump into bones,
then we cloth the bones with flesh, and ...
then We caused it to grow into another creation....
Thus most Blessed Allah....
The best of those who create...

This process of creation  happens in the creation of all animals as well, but God has shaped man into a special creature different from animals......mashaallah ....

Arrival of Aisya Sarra

It was an anxious wait ..because the date 11/11/11 was a day ahead and it was the date that everyone was hoping for ..Why? Just because it looks great on your birth certificate and identity card  if your birthday were to fall on such a date ...but Aisya Sarra arrived  on 10/11/11 at about 6.30pm a birth that only happen after conception determined only by the great  one ..Allah ..no money in whatever currency and no man in whatever position can have the power to make it happen !!!

We recieved the fon call and we screamed ...literally....Aisya Sarra is here ...she has arrived ...lets get ready quickly ..lets go ...lets go.. Her two brothers, Imran Ariff the elder one who is four years old and Ridhwan Ariff who is two and a half  both scrambled to the bathroom making  sure they look and smell good for Aisya Sarra...their new sister..
Asalamualaikum

On arrival to the  hospital  we had to wait for quite a while before the nurse brought Aisya Sarra ...we saw her..a bundle of joy ..many would  refer to ...Her head was full of hair, jet black and including sideburns! Yes sideburns ....yet she look absolutely gorgeous and beautiful !!!  I looked at her in amazement and my heart quivered...disturbed and touched .....somehow ....this time the arrival of Aisya Sarra my third granddaughter  made my heart stopped a second to wonder at this magical moment  ...... because   at this golden age   I somehow saw her arrival from a different window the window of life ...it was a special gift ....a..GIFT OF LIFE . Before, I was too busy to notice the difference ....I was  consumed with the daily routine of the material world, ...in the past I took it for granted ...an attitude that says ...it's natural ..why fuss ??
Candy Cane

Softer than silk
Today I  the true meaning of the phrase "gift of life" hit me right through, it made me see the difference that  human  life is really special  Just try comparing  the gift of life to animals and plants .The difference you will notice that human has the ability to make rational choices and should be able to handle feelings or emotions of  anger, hatred or love. Able to think and accept that at the end of the day  one has to face the  consequences of the choice made in reference to the Quran  and Sunnah . I thank god that he made me see today through Aisya Sarra what  I missed before ...I thank Allah for the life he gave her and all of us  ...I thank him for the  nur i.e. the light  that  reminded me  where I came from and where I will  be be going when life  end .
Gift from Heaven
I looked at her ..she is only a day old...a long way to go ..and me? I am already reaching the end as I am sixty years old ...long overdue ..And I began to ask myself ..what choices did I make along the way ..did I make the right choices ?  Am I ready to face Allah and answer for all my choices ?! Subhanallah !
Trapped ?!

In islam there must be balance between iman (faith) and amal (practice) During the recent talk I was shaken again when I was told to look around and see...looking through the glass we might be able to see that   some of us appear to have "iman" , that is admitting we have all the knowlege with regards to faith in god but   when taken under the microscope examining our "amal" that is our doings or deeds in this world it is hard to admit  the truth that they not congruent and therefore  in conflict with each other. When a person is not congruent it disturbs the balance in us. That is why for many of us although we may have all the material needs that we think we require unfortunately for many that need is insatiable. The feeling, it is never enough, it lingers like a bottomless pit ! We somehow get ourselves trapped !
Cofused? Banana ?? Edible

The irony even for those who believe all that exit in this world  is natural due to nature ..appear to be  confuse because some or the cause they are trying to uphold in the name of human rights is against the law of nature itself. That happens when one is not in congruent within oneself. Just look around  nowadays  we can witness alot of Allah's command in the quran is construed by many to be not in line with the present. Worse those accusations are made by many who never once read or studied the Quran and it's contents in depth with those in authority. Yet they  insist that they are right and label Allah's commands as outdated and traditional and archaic and not in line with human rights! However I personally find it odd because all these intrepretations are made by those we refer to as "jahil" meaning when one who is not the expert in the field and do not have the knowledge but claim to be as the expert. It is just like someone who read a little on the heart disease for example and yet claim he knows best...  claim he is the expert.....in such a case is he your point of reference where  would you  would seek and trust his advise   ....Would you?

If you keep your ears open, at present many issues with regards to the above said are being debated and I will leave it to your good judgement to decide where you stand . As said above the choice and consequence is yours ...
Choosing the right path ?

Therefore in trying  to make the right choices I love to be made aware that choices here mean choosing the right path as determine by Allah in the quran and the teachings from the prophet Muhamad s.a.w. for those who embrace Islam . Making the right choice would also mean not at face value..we have to walk the talk and try our level best to be congruent in mind, soul and actions as we have to answer to Allah when we face him hereafter. How to ? Definitely it is not easy..who says it is .. of course it is easier said than done..but try we must !

Brothers
I looked at Aisya Sarra again and pray that Allah will show her and her brothers the right path....because being able to be in the right path they will be able to withstand  all odds especially in this virtual life where there is no borders. Everything good or bad is on the net.. she has to make a choice...Insyaallah choosing the right path is the only way in principle where Allah will always be there ..to keep them safe, sane and more important not confuse and blurred and congruent to face the challenges ahead of them.

Inshaalah god permit ..Aisya Sarra ..and brothers  will find time to thank Allah in times of prosper or otherwise and most important at the end of the road they will be ready to face Allah and thank HIM  again for giving them LIFE a GIFT they cannot get from stores... A gift only from Allah...

Subhanallah....its time I be reminded to thank Allah too for the same gift  he gave me.... like he gave Aisya Sarra ...what about you ?!

STRIVE TO BE PERFECT OR STRIVE TO BE BETTER

Bougeanvilla
Strive to be better or strive to be perfect I ask myself?  Somehow more often I have heard myself saying many times  " it has to be perfect "   and I have also heard some of my friends say "I am a perfectionist so this wedding has to be perfect" and lately I heard a friend say " ...but nobody is perfect" ....so in other words are  some of us   striving to be   perfect without us realizing it?
Begonia

The question is what we think is perfect, is it really perfect ? I began to reflect...in inventions nothing is static..it evovle with time...what we think is perfect today may be history in the future... Just look at telephones  and how it has  evovled to what it is now, so small, pocket size, multifunctional  and still evovling .The same is happening to so many other human inventions. Think about it !? It made me wonder whether  the inventors are chasing after perfection .

Petunia
Then I ask myself can perfect be like beauty ? Beauty they say is in the eyes of  the beholder. What  is perfect then? If perfect is also in the eyes of the beholder then what is perfect to you may not be perfect to me and the others. So as long as we are human does it mean that   perfection is beyond our reach?.
kantan
Well, if we can recall the recent tsunami in Japan, analysts did say that when the nuclear power plant was built inventors did make calculations and  took into consideration probabability of occurence  of such an event. However in reality when tsunami hit the area  the nuclear power plants could  not withstand the force of nature. Complications arose due to nuclear gas leak and the tragedy saddened the whole world  and touches everyone's heart . A  memory that will remain if not haunt some of us for a very very long  time. So the question that arise is what lesson  learnt ? Does it mean we humans can only try our best and strive to achieve perfection but to be perfect is near impossible because the concept of  perfect is godliness...it belongs to HIM .. Only Allah is perfect and perfection is HIS. His creation is always perfect and what he created if we think is imperfect is only a matter of  opinion from our point of view...He has his reasons... and that makes it perfect...
fusion of leaves

fusion of flowers
Of course I had to go  to my garden to find perfection. I immediately saw perfection  was all over ...I look at the leaves , they are green but if you  look at it closely they are different shades of green, different in shape and sizes, similar yet not the same. If you examine closer you will be able to notice all these differences. They   like humans, have their own   "thumbprint"! .  I looked at my  roses which was blooming in the dozens  and they look beautiful...the colors perfect...the shape perfect...the size perfect...the scent perfect...and unique...so just like the leaves each individual rose have their own identity too. In short no two roses are the same although they come from the same stem ! Amazing ....isn'nt it? I just could not find any imperfection in them . Mashaalah...Subhanallah....
a perfect creation

I began to see my relationship with plants and roses in relation to perfection. Thinking aloud I thought , roses are perfect creation of Allah, no doubt about it but on the other hand some would say  it has to be tendered with love and care for it to bloom beautifully. It still would require human intervention in terms of knowledge in caring like  pruning and manuring etc.  Looking at it from the angle of face value I agree totally. But if you observe carefully  you will  realize that human intervention only happens  in situation where we  try to grow roses ourselves in controlled environment.  Somehow roses that grow in the wild, in their natural habitat they require no human intervention and  they are even more beautiful. Why? Because where human has not interfered there is balance in nature, in other words all is perfect,as Allah had created in the first place, all in perfect balance.

double delight

However after giving it a deep thought I think  unlike the rose I cannot strive to be a perfect person in whatever I say or do ...because I am just human .....what I can try to do is to strive to be better...a better person....in my relationship with others and more important in my relationship to the one who created me ....Allah. The rest just leave it to HIM That makes me feel much  better ...I do not know whether you feel the same...

CHERISH WHAT YOU HAVE WHILE YOU HAVE IT

 Asalamualaikum

Hello there

claw 1
What is your reaction if you heard someone say " is it not better to have hands than to have a handbag, better to have feet than shoes?" It shook me! I never saw it in that light ..never ...Hmm... I thought quickly ... All this while my focus  was ..what handbag next ? GUCCI...or  LOIUS VOUITTON or ????!       What shoes next ..BALLY...TODS..BRUNO MAGLI....????

mix roses
How silly can I be? I suddenly took  a good look at my hands ....at my feet...only this time I make sure I  see both my hands and feet with my heart. You know the difference when you see things with your eyes  you  just see the vision at face value but if you see it with your heart you almost can feel and appreciate it's beauty. So this time when I really took a "good look"  at my hands and feet I noticed  not only they are beautiful but they are perfect!

Angel Face
view from my mousollah
I tried to wriggle my hands,  pick up a bottle with it, pick up a pin and was amazed at  its agility  and usefulness. I began to imagine if I loose a thumb what will happen? I tried picking up the same things as above but this time  pretended I have no thumb and found it very difficult if not near impossible!

Mashaallah..what a unique creation!! Whose work can it be if it is not Allah ! I stop to ponder and went to the mirror to have a good look again at myself . I have so much ..if  I tried to list what I have on me and in me it would be an endless long list because I am sure there is more to be found  what else we have in us ... thank GOD! I began to thank HIM for creating me so perfect ...HE has given me the best ..what more can I  ask?..and all this time I worry over next to nothing ..over material things that wither away even before I die . Unlike my hands and feet they last a lifetime!

mini roses
To those who disagree, hear me ..I  am not saying you cannot have  handbags or shoes ...but the difference is in principle to give  the handbag or the shoe priority over those hands and feet !!! That is the issue here...at least it WAS for me then!

After giving it a lot of thought, now I am starting to appreciate what I have for free! Free? What is free you might ask. Who would give anything for free these days. The AIR ! Imagine no air??? Thank god it is free? Unlike water which we also need badly  was once free from the rivers, now from the tap ,  there is a cost for convenience that we all have to bear.

Kenanga

Hybrid Rose
Trying to appreciate the air I began to  breathe deeply ....closing my eyes trying to feel all the air that is going into my lungs ....how good it made me feel.. all this while I never bothered ..I just took it for granted that breathing was a natural thing to do ..why fuss ? I gave it a deep thought ....hmmm...if humans were to manage the air we breathe what happens if I delayed in paying the bills....just like I did to my handfon ! I was denied of usage.. Oh no! denied from breathing ...it simply means cannot breathe ..so bye bye to this world ..ardious ...ina lilla ...

I thank Allah the  almighty...(AR-RAHMAN) for his greatness, he knew  men's natural instinct on greed because he created them so HE  created air in a manner it's there everywhere for everyone irrespective of race and creed...  "subhanallah"....

double delight
What is the correlation with gardens then? I remembered when I was little the teacher used to tell me that we share our oxygen with plants but the plants are thoughtful she said because they give out oxygen in the daytime and only give out carbondioxide in the night time. I look at my garden which is full of green leaves from the giant heconias and a tree called the Pride of Myanmar or Queen of Flowering Tree. As I take my usual morning walk I breathe in deeply and  slowly ..and this time I could smell the freshness  in the air as the rain just stopped and I could also smell the different scents from the  parfum generated by the the roses,  jasmine, murraya paniculata, odontanedenia, strohanthus gratus, aglaia duperieana local name chinese perfume plant or chinese rice flower or mock lemon who are all in fullbloom. How lucky I am  able to smell all those fragrances for free ...suddenly I was reminded again .. that nose ...it is that nose that enable me to smell...I cherished that nose more than ever now !

strohanthus gratus
Have you ever given it a thought,  if you are handicapp or suffering from parkinson's disease you cannot handle an egg or a flower for that matter...picking or holding an egg is an art that we picked up when as we grew up...just try watching toddlers when they handle an egg or a flower for the first time ...what happened? They most probably drop it or crush it isn'nt it ? My thoughts began to race... even if we have a cupboardful of handbags the question is whether we can still carry the same handbag with style and grace when we are 84 years old! However we should thank god if we still have those hands ....
Aglaia Duperieana
kerak nasi
So now I feel enriched with whatever I already have, myself especially, my husband, my children my sister, my relations and friends. Now I walk tall, feel comfortable with myself anywhere ...I do not need any material thing that is  branded like Brabus or Louiss Vouitton  to hang on to to make a statement of who I am or what I can afford, I am just happy and at ease to be just me. Now without even thinking I would just grab any recycle bag when I need to go out ..my daughter noticed the change in me and  did ask me one day.." mama" she said, " what is wrong with you, why are you carrying that "thing" where are your handbags?" I just smiled and said thank god I have these hands ....

In your case did you ever gave a thought what or who you cherish most....is it still with you now ..is it worth to cherish.......if you had lost it did you cherished it while you had it ????
